Joan Fabian at San Antonio’s McNay Art Museum

The new wing, designed by French architect Jean-Paul Viguier, has been previewed for the media and major donors, but now it's time for the public to see the sleek contemporary space attached to the 1920s mansion of founder Marion Koogler McNay. Saturday, programs include an animated short "For Gabriele", Joan Fabian's video collaboration with Musician Bett Butler, which has been licensed by the McNay Art Museum for use in their education department. Plans are to screen the film in the Chiego Lecture Hall at the grand opening of the McNay's new Jane & Arthur Stieren Center on June 7 & 8. The song “For Gabriele” was inspired by the story of early 20th century German Expressionist painter Gabriele Münter, who toiled in the shadow of her more famous mentor and lover, Wassily Kandinsky.
